Windlab’s approach to sustainability is grounded in our drive to deliver more - for the environment, for people, and for our shareholders.
By leveraging our diverse in-house expertise, we continue to push further to unlock transformational projects that drive down carbon emissions, support better outcomes overall for ecosystems, and create shared value for our stakeholders.
The people and places that host our projects are at the heart of what we do. We believe that success is built on strong, lasting relationships with our partner communities – success is something we all earn, together.
This is why we are committed to being a responsible and responsive partner focussed on striving for improved outcomes and championing lasting regional benefits.
Underpinned by transparency, collaboration, and mutual respect, we work closely with landowners, local governments, and residents to deliver clean energy solutions that benefit everyone—creating jobs, fostering economic growth, and supporting environmental sustainability.
We recognise that biodiversity decline and climate change must be addressed in synergy.
We’ve established the first scientifically robust and measurable biodiversity net-gain programs in Australian Renewables.
From site selection to operation, we partner with experts, communities, and conservation groups, to protect biodiversity and maintain ecological balance.
Our goal goes beyond avoiding harm—we aim for a net-positive environmental impact. By balancing clean energy needs with biodiversity protection, we’re not just powering a sustainable future; we’re helping regenerate it for people, nature, and the planet.
Windlab builds end-of-asset-life planning into lease agreements with host landholders from the outset, backed up by detailed decommissioning and rehabilitation plans required as part of project regulatory approvals.
Many of the components used in renewable energy projects remain valuable even after the project itself reaches the end of its life. Equipment can be transferred to other projects, on-sold, or donated to support regional community groups. Steel and other metals used in turbine towers, transmission structures and overhead cabling can be on-sold for recycling. Technology is constantly evolving, and there are already a range of new and innovative solutions being developed to recover valuable resources from turbine blades and other components.
As our projects near the end of nameplate term, options life upgrading and repowering turbines could extend the valuable operating life of the project.
Safety isn’t just a priority at Windlab—it’s a value that drives our operations and defines our success. We're committed to fostering a work environment where all our people feel protected and empowered to speak up to make our workplaces safer for everyone.
We’re dedicated to maintaining the highest standards of safety, ensuring the well-being of our employees, contractors, and the communities we serve. From project development and construction to ongoing operations, we prioritise proactive risk management, strict compliance with regulations, and a culture of safety-first decision-making.
Our teams are trained in the latest safety practices and technologies, and we continuously evaluate and improve our procedures to exceed industry standards.
