Windlab Wind Farms achieve top rankings in NEM Capacity Factor Rankings for 2024
Three windfarms developed by Windlab have secured top positions in the National Electricity Market (NEM) capacity factor rankings for 2024, showcasing Windlab’s superior WindScape wind mapping technology and commitment to high-performance, reliable, and sustainable renewable energy projects.
#1 Coonooer Bridge (Victoria) | Developed by Windlab, Coonooer Bridge has been supplying energy to the grid since 2016. It has achieved the highest capacity factor of any wind farm on the NEM in most years since. This wind farm is helping the ACT reach its 100% renewable target, often at a negative cost to taxpayers. Despite its small size, Coonooer Bridge demonstrates exceptional performance thanks to its high-quality design and excellent wind resource.
#2 Kennedy Energy Park (Queensland) | Developed and co-owned by Windlab, Kennedy Energy Park is a pioneering hybrid renewable energy facility that combines wind, solar, and battery storage to deliver consistent and reliable clean energy. Operating at full capacity since May2024, Kennedy’s innovative design enhances grid reliability and energy resilience, offering a model for integrating renewables with existing energy infrastructure.
#5 Kiata (Victoria) | developed by Windlab | Developed by Windlab, Kiata is consistently one of the best-performing wind farms in Australia. This remarkable performance reflects Windlab’s leading WindScape technology in finding and developing optimally designed wind farms in high wind resource regions.
Additionally, Coopers Gap (Queensland), another project developed by Windlab, landed at number 27in the rankings.
The capacity factor measures the average output of a wind farm over time relative to its maximum potential if it ran at full power continuously.
Achieving top positions in the NEM capacity factor rankings is a testament to Windlab’s unwavering commitment to developing high-performance renewable energy projects. The high-capacity factors of the wind farms we develop demonstrate their exceptional performance and reliability, contributing significantly to a more stable and resilient energy grid.
Windlab’s exclusive IP mapping technology, WindScape, is unmatched by other resource mapping technologies available for wind prospecting. This high-resolution mapping system uses a unique model to calculate wind behaviours over topographic features, pinpointing quality wind energy resources to within 100metres. Our high-definition resource data is layered with land tenure, vegetation, cultural heritage, and planning maps to find 'needle in a haystack' opportunities with greater certainty and less risk.
These rankings highlight Windlab's expertise in site selection, project design, and operational excellence. Our consistent delivery of top-performing wind farms reinforces our reputation as a trusted leader in the renewable energy sector. This recognition underscores our dedication to driving the transition to a sustainable energy future. We take immense pride in these accomplishments and remain steadfast in our mission to innovate and push the boundaries of renewable energy.
