Windlab Systems congratulates Wind Power Pty Ltd on achieving planning approval for its 192MW wind farm at Waubra, in Victoria, Australia. This project was an early beneficiary of WindScapeTM technology. Windpower was able to identify the site and rapidly achieve a good relationship with the local community resulting in rapid approval by the Victorian Government. Windlab is proud of its contribution to this project and looks forward to positive outcomes for landholders, the local community and the environment.

Scientists at Windlab Systems have begun a collaboration with scientists at the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) in Boulder, Colorado. The NCAR scientists are leaders in Large Eddy Simulation (LES) and vegetative canopy flows. The work focuses on using eddy resolving calculations to model flow over topographic features with and without vegetative canopies present.

Plans to build a wind farm at Baynton are one step closer to realisation following formal agreement between Windlab Systems and Stanwell Corporation to jointly pursue the proposed development.

Windlab Systems and Stanwell signed a memorandum of understanding confirming their mutual interest and responsibilities to progress the proposal to develop one of Australia’s largest wind energy projects.

Two of Australia’s leading wind industry companies have teamed up to investigate the potential of developing Australia’s largest wind farm at Baynton.

A state of the art 80 metre monitoring tower, installed by Windlab Systems, will measure wind data as part of a joint feasibility study with one of Australia’s leading renewable energy generators, Stanwell Corporation.

Windlab Systems chief executive, Mike Vallender, said the proposed development was good news for the local region.
