Glenthompson and district residents showed very strong support for the proposed Oaklands Hill Wind Farm at the recent community open day. The wind farm, being proposed by Investec Bank (Australia) Limited and Windlab Systems Pty Ltd, will make a major contribution to Victoria's greenhouse gas reductions, cutting carbon dioxide by around 364,000 tonnes a year (the equivalent of planting around 540,000 trees) while producing enough power to service up to 52,000 homes.

New Zealand's Contact Energy today announced that it has signed a memorandum of understanding with Investec to investigate the opportunity to work with Investec towards jointly developing Investec and Windlab's portfolio of wind sites in New Zealand.

Contact Energy Chief Executive, David Baldwin, said Contact was pleased to secure the arrangement, which would give Contact important options in wind energy.

Windlab's CTO gives invited talk at CWE2006

Windlab Systems' Chief Technical Officer, Dr Keith Ayotte was recently an invited speaker at the Fourth International Symposium on Computation Wind Engineering held in Yokohama, Japan, 16-19, July, 2006.

Dr Ayotte presented an overview paper on computational methods for the wind energy industry. In the talk Dr Ayotte spoke on a broad range of topics associated with computational fluid dynamics in wind resource assesment.
